RAF Valley Textile Collage Workshop

I ran a workshop on Thursday at a childrens ’drop-in’ at RAF Valley Anglesea. I planned for a textile collage workshop. There was lots going on all day and the kids dipped in and out of the activity. I also had a 2nd plan up my sleeve . I had some tiny canvasses I had bought. They enjoyed painting more than the collage.  The children had a lot going on so they had a choice what they wanted to do. I flitted between the collages and painting for them. Id rather do a workshop that they can focus on the one thing …but it was real fun and I met some nice workers and kids. Its great to be paid doing something you love! More to follow I recon )

I didn’t do great at Central Bazaar in Wrexham on Saturday. Nice venue, and networking. However I’m not convinced that it was Marketed very well. These events have to be marketed far afield. It can’t be relied upon for ‘the locals’ to come. I find that’s the problem with Wales is that there’s a reliance on ‘locals’ and it doesn’t work. I’t not easy getting it right. If I knew what was involved Id probably shut my mouth.  

Never Mind anyway!

Too much of a break, looking forward to getting back in my workshop August 28, 2010

Iv had a week off! don’t like it, iv been looking after my granddaughter all week as my grandson has had an operation. I love having her but I don’t like not having my freedom to work. I love working none stop (usually). I’m out jive dancing tonight so back to it on Sunday and into the week.

Festival Folk & Fantastic Fun August 27, 2010

A great time was had at Tegeingl folk festival. My craft stall was successful, and I really enjoyed being there. I made my stall money back plus some extra so was really pleased with that. It was good to have gas in my camper now as well! made such a difference. Great small venue. We was lucky to have good weather too. Tipped it down on Monday morning though! never mind, was all packed up the night before Phew!

 The music was great from what I could hear. A band called ‘Mabon’ – great band, would go and see them again! The drummer had a really good tambourine playing action! Me and Lily both picked up on the fact it was very different from what we had seen before. A tambourine! you say! We was chatting with the drummer guy afterwards and he said he learnt from a spanish woman.

Camera and Coffee,Sister and Salad July 8, 2010

Had a lovely morning in all places Colwyn Bay on Tuesday…I was going to Cambrian photography to see if my camera can be repaired. they said it wasnt worth sending it away and would cost £150, I hate this its awful, Iv only had the camera just a year and I dropped it from a short hight but the zoom has broken…DAM! I’m now without camera which is a pest as I photograph all my work as I make it.. I have to wait to borrow my daughters camera, which incidentally I gave her when I bought my new (now broken) camera..Iv asked photographer friends who can’t help me either…I just want someone to open it to realign the lense..I tried opening it the other day but its got funny screws  ahhh so we can’t repair ourselves!   I have to go now, so will finish this blog later x

Pavapol,Ideas and Busy’ness July 8, 2010

Very busy with designing and making new accessories…Experimenting with ‘Pavapol’ this is a fabric hardener..it makes my textiles look plastic, made small 3cm flowers to start with…I love the sound of the little flowers when they knock together…they will make great rings and necklace charms…Iv been sourcing Ring Blanks…but you know what, I really would like a jeweller to make silver blanks, I have someone in mind.. I just think a collaboration would be cool and the rings would be more likely to sell at the deservedly price for the work that goes into them. And the fact that they aren’t mass-produced.

Funding, finding and finances May 26, 2010

Been to 2 workshops today..Im getting myself about a bit )

Workshop 1: was at 8am this morning along with Bacon Baps, croissants and coffee. This was at The business centre in Junction, walked! thats the beauty of living near the B Centre. This was a talk on Funding. Informative- will follow up!

Workshop 2: In Abergele -Wales Cooperative. About Marketing, getting yourself known online and making a website people will look at.

Im tired! need to finish one of my Commissions really.

Going to talk about a small grant tomorrow I can have, providing I show payment ( receipts)

Facebook fans and garden contents May 16, 2010

Been in the garden sewing salad seeds and planting out some plants. My granddaughter stayed over last night and sewed some seeds with me…its been really hot today, im not great with the heat nor the cold..cant make my mind up which I like or don’t like! iv set up a ‘fan page’ on Facebook, hope to sell some of my accessories from there? other people sell from there so will see how it goes.
